What we collect
When you write a letter, we collect the information you type in: your name and address, the recipient's details, any account or policy numbers, your answers to the guided questions, and — if you use the email feature — the email address you send a copy to. If you pay, our payment provider Stripe processes your payment details; we never see your card number.
What we use it for
One thing: drafting and posting your letter. Your answers are sent to an AI writing service (Anthropic or OpenAI) solely to draft your letter. We do not sell your data, share it for marketing, or add you to mailing lists.
Sharing with our print-and-mail provider
To physically print and post your letter, we share the details that have to appear on it — your name and address, the recipient's name and address, and any account or policy numbers in the letter — with our print-and-mail provider, PostGrid. This is done solely to print and post your letter, and for no other purpose. A data-processing agreement (DPA) is in place with PostGrid, under which they process this data on our instructions only. Where recorded or registered delivery is used, we also receive and store the tracking number and delivery status returned for your letter.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to count page visits. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner.
How long we keep letters
Your letter stays available at its private link so you can come back to it. If you would like a letter and its data deleted, contact us with the letter link and we will remove it.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting privacy@cancelpost.app.
Who we are
CancelPost is the data controller for the information described above. Contact: privacy@cancelpost.app.
